Description

Product Backlog Management: Own and prioritize the engineering team backlog, ensuring items meet the Definition of Ready with clear estimates and story points.Requirement Translation: Convert high-level business needs into detailed functional and non-functional requirements for the development team.Agile Execution & Scrum Participation: Actively engage in all scrum ceremonies (Planning, Standups, Retrospectives, Velocity Planning) to align with development goals and maintain transparency.Defect Resolution & Sprint Monitoring: Manage bugs and blockers, review sprint progress, and ensure development stays on track to reduce late-stage issues.Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate clear communication between technical teams and stakeholders, promoting collaboration and shared understanding.Sprint Reviews & Team Morale: Lead sprint reviews, highlight achievements and challenges, and foster team accountability and motivation through recognition.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the product backlog items are clearly defined, well understood, and properly estimated by the development team to reduce ambiguity and confusion, allowing the development team to work more efficiently in executing the product roadmap and delivering on our business goals
  • Manages defect or bug resolution based on organizational objectives
  • Play an active role in mitigating blockers and dependencies impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint development, including progress reviews during the sprint to assure that development is in line with expected outcomes and to reduce the risk of late found defects
  • Ensure sprint ceremonies are scheduled, attend and facilitate where needed
  • Prepares and conducts sprint review for the R&D organization and shares a summary of what went well, challenges and accomplishments, demonstrating progress, fostering accountability within the team, and recognizing the hard work of other team members to boost morale and motivation

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Software, Computer Science, or Business Administration — or 5+ years managing software product backlogs, including defects, technical debt, and feature development
  • Collaboration & Communication: Proven ability to work closely with developers, product managers, and customers; strong written and verbal communication across diverse audiences
  • Agile & Project Management: Solid understanding of agile methodologies and project management skills for executing complex, multi-phase initiatives
  • Global Resource Coordination: Skilled in managing teams and resources across different locations and time zones; adept at translating customer needs into clear requirements and user stories
  • Industry Tools & Environment: Comfortable in fast-paced, goal-driven settings; GIS/ESRI experience is a valuable asset
